Lombardy
From Milan's fashion runways to Lake Como's alpine glamour, Italy's most dynamic region.

About Lombardy
Lombardy is Italy at its most ambitious. Milan sets the pace with fashion, design, and a relentless creative energy. But step outside the city and the region transforms: the ethereal beauty of Lake Como, the medieval charm of Bergamo's upper town, and the Renaissance splendour of Mantua. The landscape ranges from the Alpine foothills to the fertile Po Valley, and the food reflects this diversity—risotto alla Milanese, cassoeula, and the incomparable bresaola from the Valtellina. Lombardy is where tradition meets innovation, and every visit reveals a new layer.
Best Time to Visit
April to June or September to October. Lake Como is best from May to September when gardens bloom and lake swimming is possible. Milan shines during Salone del Mobile (April) and fashion weeks.
Local Tips
- Bergamo deserves a full day.
Take the funicular to the Città Alta (upper town) and get lost in medieval streets. A local knows the best spot for casoncelli pasta and which hidden terraces offer views stretching to the Alps.
- Explore the lesser lakes.
Lake Iseo and its Monte Isola (the largest lake island in Europe) offer Lake Como beauty without the celebrity price tags. A local can plan a perfect day of cycling, wine tasting, and lake fish.
- Visit Mantua's hidden Renaissance.
Mantua's Palazzo Te is one of Italy's finest Renaissance buildings, yet it's often overlooked. A local will pair it with a boat ride through the lotus-covered lakes that surround this magical city.

Francesca
Bologna, Ravenna +6
👋 Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Francesca, I'm 28 years old and I live in a small town in the province of Ravenna. I speak English and French. 🎨 I'm an art expert because of my two degrees in Cultural Heritage and Visual Arts at the University of Bologna, where I've lived during my studies. This is the main city I chose to speak about in this platform because I've lived it with a student life's eyes (so pubs, restaurants, places to have fun, listen to some music, dance...) but also because I love art through that part of me too (museums, art galleries, history, traditions, culture...). ✈️ After University I've decided to take a break and I've moved to Canada where I've lived for more than one year, then I came back to become a Travel Designer thanks to a course in Milan. 🧳 This year I've also got the certification to be a Tour Leader with the goal to go with families, groups of friends or couples during their travels to show them more than they expect!

Elena
Rome, Bari +8
Hi there! I'm Elena, and I've been calling Rome my home for nearly two years. While I'm an avid traveler who loves exploring new horizons, my favorite journey is the one I take every day through the winding streets of the Eternal City. Living here is a constant discovery. Even after two years, I never stop exploring Rome from different perspectives -blending its ancient history with its vibrant, modern soul. I know how overwhelming Rome can be for travelers, with so many 'tourist traps around every corner. I'm excited to share my personal database of cool finds with you-from hidden architectural gems and quiet courtyards to the best local events and spots that usually stay off the typical tourist radar. Whether you're looking for the perfect view, a unique cultural experience, or tips on how to navigate the city like a local, I've got you covered. Rome wasn't built in a day, and it certainly can't be seen in one-but with the right local insights, you can truly feel its magic. Let's explore the real Rome together!
